Sander de Gier
Sander started in 1995 and builds mostly electrics, both guitars and basses. His basses are in high demand by players worldwide. When he introduced his BeBop model a few years ago Marcus Miller and Richard Bona were his first two customers. A rush of orders followed and Sander found himself building basses day and night.
About 20 years ago I walked into a luthier’s workshop. I was immediately enchanted. The whole atmosphere of wood, tools and handwork awoke something inside me that I didn’t know was there. Instantly I knew that that was what I wanted to do in life. I followed my heart, started my own company, started with nothing, but I enjoyed it to the max. And I still do. At times I wondered if there might be a place somewhere out there where I might fit better, but I just can’t think of anything else. I build custom guitars because building guitars was custom made for me.
My story is not unique, many (if not all) guitar makers share the same passion and motivation. That’s what’s so great about the EGB. It brings us together to share our passion and admire each other’s creative workmanship.
